Real Wedding: Allison Daughton and Tyler DeWildt
The Connect: After graduating from SDSU, Allison moved to the Bay Area to be close to her family. Tyler, who grew up in San Diego, had moved to Walnut Creek for work. While out with mutual friends at a local bar, their worlds came together.
The Proposal: While running along Torrey Pines State Beach, Tyler stopped to “stretch” and secretly pulled out a beautiful engagement ring that was tied to the drawstring of his shorts. As Allison turned around, Tyler was down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
The Celebration: The couple planned an intimate beachfront ceremony on the sand followed by a garden patio reception at La Jolla Shores Hotel. Although the wedding was picture perfect, Allison says her favorite part of the wedding was going back to their room after the most enchanted evening and opening their honeymoon suite to find rose petals scattered throughout the candlelit room. On their balcony, overlooking La Jolla Shores, were two cupcakes and a sparkling bottle of Dom Perignon. The newlywed couple enjoyed the view while soaking in all the memories they had just created from the perfect evening.

Steel Magnolias
Today we take a closer look at the Steel Magnolia tablescape created for our 2010/11 issue. Inspired by the movie Steel Magnolias, this romantic tablescape was created by Amorology and Twigg Botanicals. The blend of soft and strong, seen in the contrast of the cotton and burlap, represents the beautiful masculine and feminine elements of a marriage. The details of this table are "picture perfect" with the graphic quotes from the movie, the personalized hand wrapped utensils that duo as place cards, little favors of delectable pink candies that are tied with a "Blush and Bashful" quote and the delicate clusters of blush floral with magnolias.

Real Wedding: Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines
Karen is a big fan of the show "The Amazing Race" so Mitch decided to have the day mimic the show by sending her on a 17 hour non-stop, jam packed adventure through San Diego and LA. With 15 friends and family texting and calling in clues to Karen's phone throughout the day, the couple went to 11 different locations for a special surprise or task to complete. At the last pit stop, Mitch got down on one knee and proposed with a custom-made ring.
Mitch and Karen were married at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean. Sparing no expense the couple created a personalized, comfortable and elegant wedding for their family and friends. During cocktail hour, guests were entertained with the ePod talking photo booth and Cuban cigar roller providing hand-rolled, custom banded cigars for all guests to enjoy while relaxing on the lounge style furniture. Each guest found a personalized note from the Bride and Groom at their seat that held a shared memory and a special thank you.
The couple plan to take a 3 week honeymoon to Japan and China where they plan to climb Mt. Fuji and ride camels across the Gobi Desert.
