Personalized Touches: Charitable Favors

Details with a personalized touch make a wedding more your own. Guest favors are often an overlooked detail. Brides and grooms struggle to find a meaningful thank you gift for their guests without breaking the bank. Charitable favors, where the couple donates money or volunteer hours to a charity in lieu of providing a physical gift, can be the perfect solution.

To create a charitable favor, select an organization that means something to you or in memory of someone close to you. For example, you could make a monetary donation to a breast cancer organization in memory of the bride's grandmother who died from the disease. If you have an adopted pet at home, you could pledge to volunteer one hour for every wedding guest at your local pet adoption facility. The organization can be anything meaningful to you.

Once you have selected your organization and determined what the donation will be, print a favor card (this can also double as a place card) for each wedding guest explaining the charitable favor. For example, "In lieu of a favor, a donation has been made to the Helen Woodward Animal Center in memory of our beloved pet, Fluffy."
