Personalized Touches: Sugar Rimmed Champagne Glasses

Details with a personalized touch make a wedding more your own. Serving cocktails in sugar rimmed glasses adds a touch of elegance to any event. You can use basic white sugar, found in the grocery store, for a cost effective way to rim the glasses - or you can purchase colored sugars to match the decor and style of your wedding.

Champagne glasses or any glass containers are easy to embellish with sugar. You will need limes, sugar and glasses. Pour some sugar into a shallow bowl, slightly larger than the width of the glass. Cut the limes into wedges. Slide a lime wedge along the edge of the glass. Place the edge of the glass into the sugar and move it slightly until the entire rim is covered with sugar.

To make your own colored sugar, simply place a few drops of food coloring into a bowl of sugar and mix it well with a fork. Once the sugar has all been tinted  to your desired color, spread the sugar in a single layer on a cookie sheet to dry for a few hours. Once dry, break up any sugar chunks with your fork. Store in an air tight container until you are ready to use.
