Ask Abby: First Look

As the old wives' tale goes, it's bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding. But the thing is, it's just that, an old wives' tale. More and more people are opting to let that tradition go in order to have a moment that's called a First Look. If you want to see your bride before the wedding, then go for it!

Definition: A First Look is a special moment between the bride and groom before the ceremony. It gives them a chance to see each other before she walks down the aisle and they officially begin their lives together.

You can have this photographed or you can just have a couple of moments privately between the two of you. If you are an emotional person, this may be a good option so you can get your tears of happiness out and then have your makeup artist do some touch ups before the ceremony.

If you are having it photographed, then this could be a chance to get some of your photos done at the same time! By taking your pictures then, you can have some time to attend the happy hour in between the ceremony and reception. You can take that hour to finish pictures or even just take another couple of minutes to let your love soak in.
