Real Wedding: Kelly & Joel
Once Kelly and Joel saw the white tent complete with soft white interior draping sat nestled into the side of the hill at Pala Mesa Resort they knew this was the perfect wedding reception location for them. A beautiful waterfall cascaded down the hillside that was visible through the open side of the tent and made the perfect backdrop for their orchid covered wedding cake. Oversize white Chinese lanterns canopied the sleek, modern tables dressed in white satin linen. The centerpieces consisted of glass cylinders with sunken orchid blooms and black river rock along with low square glass vases filled with calla lilies. Place settings featured modern black lacquered charger plates topped with white napkins and a coordinating orchid bloom. Guests were treated to a contemporary lounge area and candy bar filled with the bride and grooms favorite selections of licorice and chocolates. The bride and groom says their favorite part of the day was during the dinner hour when their photographer quickly loaded over three dozen wedding images into an ipad that was then passed around the wedding for the guests to enjoy. "It was instantly gratifying to see the pictures so quickly!", says Kelly.

Contemporary Flair
Beginning with the Save the Date cards and ending with the cake and favors, Caitlin and Manoli's wedding stayed true to its colors and theme - cantaloupe and sage green with the contemporary flair of circles and squares. With the couple living in New York, the Mother of the Bride organized most of the event with one request from the bride, "we are not your traditional couple and are not interested in the traditional hotel-type reception. Mom, you'll need to come up with something different." All of the vendors involved worked hard to think outside the box and come up with new and inventive ideas. The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all held at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in La Jolla. After the oceanfront ceremony, guests walked a short way to the Museum's sculpture garden, climbing the stairs to the oceanfront terrace for cocktails. The reception was held in the central gallery at the Museum with orange and green flood lights highlighting the walls and pillars and orange and green orchids floating in square glass vases on the tables. Cantaloupe linens, handmade glass chargers and a square tiered wedding cake, decorated with orange and green circles and stripes completed the room and gave the bride and groom the wedding of their dreams. When the wedding party entered the room, a tequila toast, complete with specially made shot glasses, quickly loosened everyone up and got the party started! Delicious food, great music, a fun photo booth, Greek dance lessons, a gourmet coffee cart and dessert bar, all added to the perfect evening and made the evening unique. And to top it all off... during the last hour of the reception, the Museum was turned into a New York dance club as Manoli and his friends took over the job of DJ and turned up the heat for everyone to dance the night away!
