Wedding Wednesday: Emily & Brendan

7/12/2014  |  South Coast Winery

Emily and Brendan's wedding was held at South Coast Winery Resort & Spa. They chose this venue because it offered beautiful ceremony and reception locations, delicious food and wine, and amazing wedding coordinators that made their day seamless. The couple loved this location because South Coast was very accommodating to all of their needs and strived in perfecting all their special touches they wanted on their wedding day. When Emily and Brendan planned their wedding they wanted the theme to be "vintage meets glam". They chose the colors purple and ivory to show elegance and a splash of rustic pearls and diamonds to accentuate the old classic vintage feel. The flowers were designed with different shades of purple with diamond tassels to tie in the vintage and glam. To make the wedding even more unique, they added vintage furniture and decorations for their guests to enjoy. There are so many amazing moments to share about their special day but their favorite part was sharing love to all their family and friends. The couple's wedding was exactly what they dreamed of!

Ask Abby: Tips for Picking an Officiant for the Ceremony

Photo from Two Rings and A Kiss

When picking an officiant for your wedding ceremony,  you want to take some time to think about what kind of ceremony you want. Are you and your fiance religious? Different religions? Or do you want it to be a basic civil marriage with no religious undertones? This first question will help determine if your ceremony will be more of a sermon or more of a nice speech.

After deciding what kind of ceremony you'd like, you can then add your own personal touches to it.  More often now, couples are choosing to write their own vows. If you and your fiance aren't the best with words, you can always opt for the traditional "In Sickness and Health" vows.

Another way to personalize your ceremony is to do a Communal Blessing of the Rings. This works better with smaller weddings. During the ceremony, you pass around your rings in a small decorative box and each guest has a chance to say a prayer or send positive vibes to the couple about to get married.

If you're lucky enough to have important family heirlooms, you can always find a way to work those into the ceremony as well to symbolize your two families coming together.

In the end, your wedding can be as traditional and by the book, or as modern as you'd like! Make sure to spend time to find the officiant that's right for you, who will make your wedding day as special as it should be!

Wedding Wednesday: Eve & David

3/29/2015  |  Leoness Cellars

The inspiration was rustic chic. Even and David knew they wanted to have the wedding at a winery with a beautiful outdoor setting for the ceremony. For them, Leoness was the perfect location. It's not too far from Los Angeles (where we live) and it's perched on top of a hill overlooking vineyards and sprawling mountains. The ceremony was out on the lawn followed by cocktail hour. Guests then walked through the vineyard to the massive barrel room, where the reception took place. David and Eve are young at heart so it was important for them to let their playful personalities shine through during the wedding. The couple have a love of pop culture and 80's memorabilia so in lieu of traditional seating cards, they had luggage tags with images from their favorite 80's movies and television shows. For their guest sign-in book they used "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein (a childhood favorite of theirs) and asked guests to sign their favorite page. The invitation was a cootie catcher (aka fortune teller, if you're from the east coast) that guests unfolded to reveal the wedding details. The bridesmaids chose their own dresses, shoes, jewelery and hairstyles - the bride's only stipulation was to wear a black dress that they feel sexy and comfortable in. The groomsmen wore black tuxes with black & white checkered vans sneakers. Even and David don't like to do things traditionally so instead of a regular wedding cake they opted to get cakes from their favorite bakery down the street from our house, Alcove Cafe & Bakery. They offered guests "David's favorite" (toffee cheesecake), "Eve's favorite" (chocolate peanut butter fudge) and "the compromise" (blondie).

Mangia Monday: Fiesta Like There's No Mañana

Your wedding is a celebration, and what better way to celebrate than a fiesta? We love the taco bar that Crown Point Catering puts together. It makes a great rehearsal dinner or a casual wedding reception dinner! It's accented by Patron shooters as seating cards. So grab a margarita and get ready to fiesta like there's no mañana!
