Ask Abby: How Many Bridesmaids is Too Many?

The traditional rule of thumb on bridesmaids is one bridesmaid per 40-50 guests. So if you're having a 200 person wedding, then you could have five or six bridesmaids.

However, this is entirely up to you as the bride and who you're closest to. If your closest friends are your sister and two best friends from growing up, then have three! If your closest friends are your eight best friends from your sorority and you can't bear to pick between them, then pick all eight!

As long as your groom can meet you on the number of bridesmaids to his groomsmen, go for it! Your best friends and family will be pleased to stand by your side as you enter this new chapter of your life.
