Mangia Monday: Donuts

Enhance your special event by hosting a dessert caterer, like San Diego's Sensational Treats to make fresh donuts! These wonderfully tasty desserts are best when served warm, and are always a hit with party-attenders. The personal presence of the caterer serving the donuts ups the sophistication of the event, keeping a balance of the casual dessert with the type of event they are for. They are a great option for couples looking for a unique dessert to serve their guests that leaves a lasting impression!

Fashion Friday: Wedding Shawls

Strapless wedding gowns are elegant numbers that look absolutely stunning in pictures - but what if the weather doesn't fair well and you are left feeling a little chilly on your wedding day? We all know if you aren't comfortable with the temperature it can completely change your outlook, and you won't want to be cold on one of your happiest days! Especially for the upcoming seasons, a shawl or cover-up for your wedding gown might be a great choice to keep you warm, and they are all over the runways (if that gives you assurance they look great).  Many match the gown seamlessly and are just as tasteful as the gown itself!

Kathy Wright & Co described in three words:
Experience, Quality, Detail

Why floral design? What about your career makes it worthwhile each day?
Why floral design? This is my life's work. Every day is different... no two the same, and it has been that way for years and years. It's like a box of chocolate... a surprise in each and every piece!

What got you interested in floral design?
I always loved the smiles on the faces of those who received my floral arrangements.

What are some trends you foresee in floral design?
A return to the professionals, leaving the trendy mason jars, chalkboards, and DIY behind. There have been enough wedding disaster stories to last a good number of years and too many people have seen them.

What's your favorite flower to work with?
That would be like asking what my favorite color combination is. I like all flowers, all colors - all have great value in my world.

How would you describe the Kathy Wright & Co floral style?
Classic, unique, innovative, beautiful, lush, amazing

That is the best feeling and our personal reward.

If you weren’t working with food and catering, what would you be doing?

We would still be here (LAUGH) because our family goes back in generations of bakers, even when we still have college education, this is a call not a career.

What is your favorite part about catering the dessert for weddings?

We make a little girl’s dream come true, years later when she becomes a bride.

We take pride in our name and quality and we want our name out there word to mouth. This happens at the wedding cake cutting. Every guest looks forward to this moment, we deliver, we do not disappoint.

Mangia Monday: Spanish Paella

This Monday be inspired by a flavorful Spanish paella dish.  The recipe almost always has some sort of rice, tomato, and garlic with bold and spicy flavors, but from that base there are hundreds of different things to add to make the dish your own.  The traditional Valencian dish can be filled with shrimp, lobster, pork, or vegetables - but is certainly not limited to that.  Paella has a fascinating history - this article from Saveur lays out the art of making this phenomenal Spanish dish and includes a recipe that complements the traditional dish!

San Diego Events Company described in three words:
Events With Charisma.

Why wedding and event planning? What about your career makes it worthwhile each day?
Event planning is much more than being organized, detailed and creative. I like to think of myself as a facilitator of creating treasured memories for each and every client. Every day and every client is unique. I enjoy the challenge of accommodating client requests and taking my creativity to the next level in order to exceed expectations.

What’s your favorite part and/ or moment of the wedding, and why?
My favorite part of a wedding is, without a doubt, the special toasts. This is the moment that your treasured guests are witness to the love that brought two families together. From the comical anecdotes by the Best Man to the emotionally driven declarations by the Maid of Honor, this is a showcase of unity.

How would you describe the San Diego Events Company experience?

What is one important piece of advice you would like to share with brides?
Regardless of the size and scale of your wedding, having a day of coordinator is essential.  Your big day should be exciting and filled with anticipation. Leaving the logistics to a professional planner will ensure a smooth and memorable event.

If you weren’t in the wedding & event industry, what would you be doing?
If I were not in the wedding & event industry, I would utilize my graduate degree in early education and teach elementary school. I enjoy facilitating learning through visual and creative avenues. Children are fearless innovators.
