Ask Abby: Wedding Guest Attire

Thanks to our great weather in San Diego, wedding season is a year round event! But if you're not in the wedding party, trying to decide what to wear can be tricky so we broke it out into 4 common categories to make it a little bit easier!

Black Tie: Floor length gowns and tuxes are appropriate for these formal affairs! Get ready for a night of elegance!

Cocktail Attire: A little more casual than black tie, cocktail attire is still a nicer evening. Ladies can wear a cocktail dress (knee length is fine) with fun accessories. The gentlemen should be in slacks, a button down shirt and preferably a blazer to keep it classy, San Diego.

Garden Party: Brunch weddings are trending! Garden Party attire for the ladies can be a cute sundress and for the gentlemen, a nice pair of khakis, a collared shirt and tie, no jacket necessary for this daytime function.

Beach Wedding: A popular choice in San Diego, these weddings can be a little more casual. Ladies can get away with a sundress and dressy sandals while the men can wear khaki shorts or slacks and a collared shirt.

Wedding Wednesday: Melinda & Shannon

6/26/2016  |  San Diego Zoo Safari Park

There way no better way for Melinda and Shannon to spend their six-year anniversary than to get married and celebrate with their loving and supportive community of family and friends. They first met at the Pride Run in New York City and since running has been a big part of their lives - they ran  their 6th marathon together in October 2016 - naturally they incoporated the running theme into their wedding. The also bot love to travel, especially to sunny San Diego. The San Diego Zoo Safari Park  was a unique venue that appealed to their adventurous and wile side! They love animals so it was an extra special bonus to be able ot support their conservation efforts while they ate, laughed, loved, and danced the night away!

The theme of their wedding was seaside glamour. They wanted to bring everything glamourous to the beach from beautiful flowers to chandeliers and even white lounge furniture.
