Mangia Monday: Cupcakes In A Jar

We're getting into the American spirit here at SDSW, and with July 4th weekend upon us, we can't help but to throw in a little red, white and blue.  If you're planning a patriotic themed wedding, customize a special treat with Cupcakes In A Jar at Yummy Cupcakes in Encinitas.  These cute little cupcakes are served in small mason jars with ready to devour spoons and are the perfect portion size for something so decadent.  Customize your cupcakes in star and stripes for Independence Day (USA!) or pick from an extensive list of flavors ready to order.

Inspiration Thursday: Geometric Shapes

Geometric shapes hidden within the layers of your cake give a modern feel to the most anticipated course of the reception.  Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. (left) created edible wafer paper cut into varied triangles for an artistic pop out effect.  Sweet Lydia's of San Diego (right) designed a subtle geometric pattern by using clean black criss crossing lines.

Wedding Wednesday: Lindsay & Sean

The gorgeous ocean views on the rooftop of the La Jolla Cove suites, was a great choice when many of your guests are coming in from other states.  Lindsay and Sean chose a “Destination-type” wedding to showcase the lovely city and their laid-back style. They danced into the night, even pulling out their costume box for “Crazy Hour” while the DJ kept the dance floor filled the whole night.

Table Design Tuesday: Mad Hatter Bridal Tea Party

If the Mad Hatter hosted a bridal shower, it would look like this. Imagine tasty cupcakes in spinning teacups and a giant, yellow manzanita tree with cascading florals of Hydrangea, Colombian Roses, Tulips, Craspedia, Spray Roses, Cymbidium Orchids, and Variegated Aspidistra complimented by hydrangea, miniature roses, and button mums delicately arranged in petite hanging teacups. Clear chairs give the theme a lighter-than-air, dreamy quality and bright polka dot linens, tea bag favors, and custom teapot place card holders finish the off-beat theme. You can almost see the Cheshire Cat sleeping up in that manzanita tree!

Company Background
Archive Bridal studio and boutique is owned by two sisters Paulette and Maria. Both have extensive backgrounds in the bridal industry, enjoy sewing and love staying on top of fashion trends.  They grew up in North County San Diego and have always planned on owning a beautiful bridal store together after designing and making their own wedding gowns. With their business degrees, entrepreneurial backgrounds, sewing skills and passion for fashion- they are honored to be part of your bridal experience and thrilled to share their knowledge and skill sets.

ARCHIVE BRIDAL described in three words: Wedding Gown Specialists

Why are you in your line of work? What about your career makes it worthwhile each day?
We enjoy fashion and love styling and sewing so talking about how those relate to a woman’s most cherished part of her life experience never gets old.

What’s your favorite part and/ or moment of the wedding, and why?
We think the best part is in the beginning when the bride is getting ready- that private moment when a bride is victoriously looking at her beautiful self in the mirror and truly cherishing the experience of being a fairy tale princess.

How would you describe the ARCHIVE BRIDAL experience? Fun and comfortable.

Name one thing that sets ARCHIVE BRIDAL apart from its competitors:
We have a full service sewing studio so we can really accommodate that perfect fit because we all know a gorgeous gown on a hanger will only look gorgeous ON if it truly fits right.

What is one important piece of advice you would like to share with brides?
You know it’s your gown if you don’t want to take it off. Don’t question yourself after that and try on a hundred more. Go with your instinct.

If you weren’t in the wedding & event industry, what would you be doing?
Paulette would be golfing, Maria would be cooking.

Table Design Tuesday: Shimmering Love

A soft pink leaf petal taffeta linen provides a breathtaking feathery backdrop for an over the top extravagant display of sweet smelling pale pink garden roses, white spray roses and cymbidium orchids that is sure to make a memorable statement. It only gets more romantic as crystal chandelier candleholders illuminate the table after dark.

Mangia Monday: Just A Taste

Here's for all the "foodies" out there!  Choosing a menu for your reception is always a hard decision and great catered food is highly anticipated after an intimate ceremony. A pre-determined menu sometimes doesn't work for everyone (health concerns, picky eaters, kids, etc.) Have a fun sampler style reception with dozens of mini morsels for your guests to try on their own terms and let them indulge on several small dishes until their little hearts are satisfied.  From small gourmet hors d'oeuvres to mini sliders, fill up on bite sized plates all night and still be able to save room for the cake.  The choices are endless with sampler style reception and its a fun theme for the adventurous eater.

Fashion Friday: Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

We know it’s hard to find a bridesmaid dress that flatters all of your best gal pals, but now you don’t have to.  Let your bridesmaids pick their own dresses, with your approval of course, that match with your color scheme.  The result?  A tasteful mix matched collection of dresses that gives your entourage their own personality.  It takes the worry out of trying to make everyone happy and adds character to your favorite group of girls.
