Inspiration Thursday: Moody Mermaid

11/22/2016  |  Windansea Beach
The muted colors of the Terrain Collection from Cherished Rentals was an easy choice for this seaside tablescape. Each setting was adorned with intricate vintage silverware and chargers, then paired with an eclectic mix of mid-century glassware. Sweet Emma Lou cooked up a dark chocolate semi naked cake adorned with beautiful florals and edible gold leaf. In addition, they created a intimate cake table set up with the help of amazing rentals with a macrame backdrop. Black Lotus Design provided the bridal bouquet, boutonniere, table centerpieces, arch flowers, garlands, flowers for the cake display and custom-dyed ocean-inspired azure ombre textiles. Dapper Vintage Rentals providing speciality vintage rentals in San Diego, CA for weddings, soirees, photoshoots and events. Husband & Wife team, Josh & Maheli founded Dapper after planning their own wedding and giving it that vintage touch. Dapper vintage rentals provided unique chairs for the table setting set-up, mint blue settle for the lounge, and cake display table. theMINTERY, founded by Angela Fowler, is a creative studio specializing in event styling + furniture revival - creating, building, and refurbishing personalized pieces to bring out the unique face of each project. She constructed a 12' arch from found branches courtesy of a local ranch in Alpine, refurbished and styled the Queen Anne table used in the tablescape and created the bride's shell crown. Nikki Meer, owner of Made by Meer, created a watercolor invitation suite with a blue wash to mimic the ocean. She hand painted place cards and a table number to match. A wooden "Cheers" sign adorned the cake table and a fabric love quote was painted for the bride and groom to hold.

Wedding Wednesday: Chantelle & Kurt

10/3/2015  |  Mount Palomar Winery

Chantelle and Kurt are both from Hawaii and wanted something different than the typical beach wedding but loved the outdoors so wanted to include the outdoor element in their wedding. The couple decided that a vineyard ceremony & barrel room reception was something unique and something you couldn't find in Hawaii but they also did not want to forget where they were from and threw in hints of "Hawaii" into the wedding. They had the Hawaiian Islands carved out of wood and used that as their guest book & had the string quartet & DJ both incorporate Hawaiian music. Although a wedding, they saw our wedding as a reunion for both family and friends and wanted to make sure that everyone had a great time

Wedding Wednesday: Colleen & Peter

6/27/2016  |  The Admiral Kidd Clubb
Colleen and Peter knew they wanted to get married where it all began and decided to have their ceremony on the campus of the University of San Diego. Colleen's father is retired US Navy and he was able to sponsor them to host their reception at the US Naval Base Point Loma Admiral Kidd Center. Peter and Colleen both have very large, Catholic families and were very grateful so many of their friends and family were able to travel to their destination wedding in San Diego. Planning a wedding from out of town, and planning a reception on a military base definitely were not easy and they had more than their fair share of hurdles to overcome. However, the day of their wedding finally arrived and everything was magical. Everyone in the bridal party stayed at the Town and Country Hotel in San Diego and while Peter and his groomsmen got ready in the bridal suite, the bridesmaids and Colleen had their hair and makeup done by the very talented artists in the hotel's salon: Bella Tosca Spa and Salon. After their pre-ceremony photos the party bus shuttled everyone over to the Immaculata Church at the University of San Diego. The traditional, Catholic ceremony was full of laughter, tears, prayer and beautiful music. Peter is a member of the Knights of Columbus Catholic men's group and so they were fortunate to have their color corps provide a sword arch for them as they exited the church in front of all their guests. After the ceremony the bridal party went to multiple locations around the college campus and the city for more photos. The couple then arrived at the military base as guests were arriving for their cocktail hour. Their florist, Mary Bowerman of Elements of Style, decorated the waterfront location with a mix of lavender, light blue and royal purple hues. The Admiral Kidd Center served a variety of seafood, fruit and vegetable dishes to complement the southern California atmosphere. Once they concluded the receiving line at the cocktail hour the plated dinner service began. Guests enjoyed salmon and chicken entrees while they played a photo montage of images from their childhood. After a series of sweet, yet light-hearted toasts, they cut their four tiered buttercream frosted wedding cake from the French Gourmet bakery. The DJ, Lady Merrylin of Artistic Productions turned the lights down and the dancing began! From Can't Take My Eyes Off You as the first dance song to Gangnam Style and everything in between, they definitely had a great first day to start their marriage!
