Wedding Wednesday: Brenda & Antonio

July 5, 2013 |  Maderas Golf Club
their story: Brenda and Antonio's beautiful Catholic ceremony took place at Brenda's childhood church and was followed by a night full of endless dancing and celebration.  The dancing only stopped when the cake was cut and only 15 pieces of cake were eaten by the time the dancing continued. The highlight of the night was when Brenda's 87-year-old grandmother attempted to get low on the dance floor and smack the handsome grooms bootie.

Table Design Tuesday: Love Is Not Extinct

A unique table design using the stunning cityscape and University Club decor with hues of apple green, shimmering silver and deco black and white. This was a table designed for a couple which combined their careers and their first date venue, where the architect meets the paleontologist. The table is complete with rich blends of color, whimsical touches and finished with black glitter dinosaurs.

Personalized Touches: Signature Drinks

Details with a personalized touch make a wedding more your own. A signature cocktail is a delicious way to personalize your wedding. If you have an open bar, a signature cocktail is a great way to feature your wedding colors or tell a story about the bride and groom. If you are trying to reduce your bar costs, offering a soft bar, beer and wine only, plus a signature drink is a great way to give your guests options without paying the full bar prices. Some of my brides have created blue drinks to use as their "something blue".

The Liquid Chefs offer a variety of signature drink recipes, in lots of fun colors, on their web site. There are also dozens of signature cocktails in every color of the rainbow in this BuzzFeed article.

Wedding Wednesday: Katie & Jimmy

9/13/14  |  Twin Oaks Garden Estate
Their Story: The Collins wedding took place in the late afternoon of Friday, September 13.  Most couples would have shied away from a Friday the 13th but the number 13 holds significance for both bride and groom, so it seemed like a perfect fit. The sun was just beginning to hide behind the trees and cool off when the bride walked through the beautifully manicured gardens of Twin Oaks Garden Estate in San Marcos, just north of San Diego, down the grassy aisle and into a large circle formed by the wedding party and 200 friends and family members. The ceremony was performed by a close friend and the custom circle formation allowed everyone an expert view and a more intimate atmosphere.

The bride wore a classic trumpet dress by designer Paula Varcelona, picked up on a trip to New York City. The groom wore a bespoke suit by Brooklyn Tailors, a company owned by the bride’s brother and sister-in-law. The bridal party was outfitted in coordinating navy J.Crew dresses and the groomsmen all wore charcoal three-piece suits.

The estate was decorated in a rustic chic fashion, complete with hand-made touches including chalkboards, easels of snapshots, apothecary jars and picturesque floral arrangements enhancing the natural beauty. The bride’s father, a former pastry chef, even made the amazing Bavarian Cream cake with fresh strawberries. The hand-made cake topper read “Best Day Ever” across the top.

Immediately following the ceremony, the party enjoyed an extended cocktail hour complete with champagne, Moscow mules and top shelf scotch. Guests were then ushered to a large and exquisite tent for dinner. Immediately following dinner, the reception evolved into a an epic dance party, complete with a serenade of “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” from Top Gun by her groom and groomsmen and the bride’s 83 year-old grandma tearing it up with the best of them. The evening ended with a grand sendoff of the couple with flower petals and bubbles as they hopped in a vintage roadster and drove off into the warm
California night.

Table Design Tuesday: Boho Chic

Temecula Creek Inn is surrounded by amazing greenery and has a historical feel to it. Here the designer incorporated the natural beauty and intertwined it with a bohemian chic look, wrapped with warm and vibrant tones. The team scouted the grounds and cut all the seeded eucalyptus, silver dollar and passion vine on the property in keeping it organic and achieving the overgrown appeal for this table design.
