We will impress your guests with a full jazz orchestra for the price of a 6-8 piece combo. You won't believe your ears when you hear your favorites like Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Count Basie, Prez Prado, Tito Puente, Pancho Sanchez, Michael Buble, Buddy Rich, and the like, all played by a big 20-piece brass and sax band with full rhythm section and latin percussion. It's a real floor show Vegas style. We're not your Grandpa's big band - but he'd like us, too!

Vendor Spotlight: Continental Catering

Company Background
Since 1984, Continental Catering has said adios to uninspired events and hola to grandoise affairs. Fully licensed and insured, we could be to your event what peanut butter is to jelly: undoubtedly a union of epic proportions.
Continental Catering described in three words: 2 cups delicious, 2/3 cup decadent, 1/4 cup delightful
What type of cuisine does Continental Catering cater?
We are culinary globetrotters. You pick a spot on the map and we'll take care of the rest.
What got you interested in the catering industry and what is the most rewarding part of your job?
Denise, our caterer-in-chief, began cooking out of her kitchen with her mom for friends and family, and within a few months Continental Catering was born. As cliched as it sounds, after nearly 30 years it is still rewarding to see our clients happy and satisfied at the end of the night.
If you weren't working with food and catering, what would you be doing?
If we hadn't become caterers, there is a pretty good chance we would have become professional champagne tasters, oh wait, we're already doing that. Honestly, we can't imagine doing anything else. Whether we became food writers or certified festooners, we would undoubtedly still be in the private event industry.
What's special about catering for weddings? What is your favorite part about catering for weddings?
Catering for weddings is such a unique experience. This is one of the most important days of a couple's new life together, and we get to be a part of it. That's pretty exciting and humbling. With that in mind, we love the process of planning all details and ultimately, watching guests have a great time on the dance floor.
How would you describe the Continental Catering experience?
At Continental Catering, we strive to make the catering experience a joyful one. We have to remember that we are planning a party and should always be having fun, from plan to execution.
Name one thing that sets Continental Catering apart from its competitors.
There is certainly no shortage of excellent caterers in San Diego, but we each have our own strengths. At the risk of sounding biased (we should be, right?), we believe that we truly offer great taste and quality at a reasonable price. Furthermore, we are one of the few caterers that focus on more than just the meal itself, but the presentation as well. We have the capability of erecting grandiose displays or building minimalistic havens.

Mangia Monday: Salads & Slaw
Your first thoughts about slaw, most likely cole slaw, correct? Today, we are bringing a couple other delicious slaw dishes that will definitely open your mind to what this type of salad has to offer! There are endless possibilities, depending on the cuisine that you prefer - and it can actually be a healthy option for you (we know the unhealthy stigma of traditional cole slaw). We love this twist on the classic cole slaw recipe, a chipotle-cilantro blend. The Thai vegetable slaw recipe found here on the blog A Graceful Way is full of a variety of vegetables that are all good for you! And finally, offer a crunch to top curried pork sliders with an apple slaw recipe via Foxes Love Lemons.

Style Inspiration: Getaways
One of the most iconic images in our minds of a wedding is of the "Just
Married" sign on the back of the getaway vehicle. Why not have a little
fun with yours? Be creative and don't be afraid to break the mold - use
a getaway vehicle that is either special to you as a couple or fits in
well with the venue (like the ski lift at the bottom for a mountain
wedding!). You can always go the classic route and get a vintage car
with fun decorations, or a horse and a carriage to be especially
romantic. Check out some of our favorite getaway inspiration images
below, with a few brought by The Studios of Joseph Guidi, White Haute Photography, and Siegel Thurston Photography.

Wedding Wednesday: Katie & Ross Sylvia
Katie and Ross fell in love within a couple months of meeting each other and they were ecstatic to move to the West Coast from Boston due to a job offer. One night in Del Mar, Katie and Ross had a sunset picnic of wine and cheese. He surprised her with a gorgeous engagement rather than tickets back home for the 4th of July. Their wedding was a beautiful representation they had grown to be as a couple. The evening was celebrated at a winery that perfectly complimented their vibrant reds and fun guests from the East Coast.
