Inspiration Thursday: Wedding Flower Ideas Inspired by the Trendiest Pantone Colors of 2017

Each year, Pantone releases their long-awaited spring color report along with the official color of the year. For 2017, the Pantone spring color report includes 10 colors ranging from soft and neutral to bright and bold. In particular, Greenery, the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year, is a uniquely vibrant color that is both lush and refreshing.

Since these colors will set the trends for the upcoming year, we’ve picked our five favorite Pantone colors for 2017 to. From Pale Dogwood peonies to Primrose Yellow ranunculuses, we’ve chosen 17 flowers and plants that most closely match these unique Pantone colors. Check out these wedding flower ideas below!

“Greenery” Flower Ideas

As the Pantone 2017 color of the year, Greenery is a refreshing take on a classic color. It’s vibrant yellow-green hue is perfect for spring, the season of new beginnings and fertility. Pantone states that this color is meant to reinvigorate by reminding us to take a deep breath.  Incorporate this lively color into your wedding with vibrant flowers and plants such as chrysanthemums, ferns, and amaranthus.

Star of Bethlehem – These unique flowers belong to the Lily family, and have star-shaped white flowers. As buds, they are bright green in color and form in clusters. Their unique shape makes them an excellent choice when it comes to adding texture to your floral arrangement.
Amaranthus – Amaranthus is an exotic plant known for its cascading seeded pods. It is an exotic plant with Aztec origins and is available in burgundy, purple, fuchsia, brown and green.
Chrysanthemum – A symbol of joy and beauty, chrysanthemums are perfect for weddings. They are one of the most cultivated flowers in the United States and are available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. This particular chrysanthemum is called the Spider Mum, and is known for its thin pencil-like petals.
Fern – Ferns are a piece of living history, as they have been around for over 300 million years. Modern ferns today are popular as household plants because they are so easy to care for. Their bright green feathery fronds makes them popular as foliage in floral arrangements.

“Pale Dogwood” Flower Ideas

Pale Dogwood is a soft hue of pink that reminds us of tranquility and peace. According to Pantone, this color symbolizes innocence and purity, making it appropriate to include into the color scheme for your wedding. This muted shade allows for versatility and makes it easy to pair with other colors.

Pink Ice Protea – Protea are trendy and exotic flowers that are increasingly becoming popular for weddings. The Pink Ice protea are a hybrid species that has origins in South Africa and its colorful blooms can last up to three weeks. It’s pink pigment intensifies during colder months.
Rose – Roses are a classic wedding flower that are here to stay. With over 150 rose species and thousands of hybrids, the soft pink variety are especially popular for weddings.
Hydrangea – Did you know that there are over five types of hydrangeas? This type of hydrangea is the smooth hydrangea, known for its smaller blooms. They are available in pink, fuchsia, purple, white, and green.
Peony A symbol of romance, peonies are a sought-after wedding flower, known for their sweet fragrance and lush appearance. Known for their densely layered petals, peonies typically take center stage within a bouquet or arrangement.

“Hazelnut” Flower Ideas

Toasty and earthy, Hazelnut is a color that reminds us of nature. It’s neutral warmth allows it to be incorporated into any season. Feature this color in your wedding by using creative accents like dried baby’s breath, wheat, and champagne roses.

Dried baby’s breath – Baby’s breath is a popular flower that’s typically used as a filler plant. They are known for their tiny white buds that grow along thin branches. When dried, they turn into a toasty golden brown that will give any arrangement a rustic and warm feel.
Wheat – Wheat is a type of grass that is great for adding a rustic touch to your wedding floral decor. Their elongated shape and feathery tips add texture and since they are dried, the best part of all is that you don’t need to worry about watering them!
Astilbe – Astilbe flowers grow in elongated clusters that create a cascading effect. Their tiny flowers give them a feathery look that is both elegant and light.

“Pink Yarrow” Flower Ideas

Bold and bright, Pink Yarrow is tropical and tantalizing. According to Pantone, it is a color that not only grabs but captivates your attention while stimulating your senses. Incorporating Pink Yarrow into your wedding flowers is a sure fire way to create a sense of drama.

Verbena – Verbena flowers are a popular garden plant that come in a variety of colors. They are annuals that are easy to care for due to their tolerance for heat and drought.
King Protea – The national flower of South Africa, the king protea is one of the most impressive species of protea. Known for their massive bloom size, a single flower can span 12 inches wide, making them one of the largest species of protea. It’s pink-tipped petals surround a fuzzy center, making them an exotic addition to any wedding arrangement.

“Primrose Yellow” Flower Ideas

Vibrant yet tranquil, Primrose Yellow is a joyous color that is perfect for spring. This color has the power to uplift spirits and reminds us to smile. Primrose Yellow can easily be incorporated into your wedding flowers with ranunculuses, sunflowers, and adorable billy balls.

Ranunculuses – Available in a large variety of bright colors, ranunculus are known for their densely layered petals. These paper-like petals give them a delicate look that’s feminine and classic.
Billy Ball – Known by their scientific name as, Craspedia globosa, billy balls belong to the Asteraceae family. Their flowers consist of bright yellow balls that sit atop a long green stem that can reach heights of 12-18 inches. Whimsical and charming, billy balls are great for adding a fun pop of color to any wedding bouquet or arrangement.
SunflowerSunflowers symbolize vitality and happiness. Known for their bright yellow color, and large flower heads, they certainly make a statement in any wedding bouquet.
Pincushion Protea – An interesting fact about pincushion protea is that the “pins” are actually pistils of individual flowers. These pistils can range in color from bright red to golden yellow. A creative wedding flower arrangement idea is to use pincushion protea to add interesting texture and a touch of drama!
